Hi, I’m Carlleen.
Long before Double C Photography had a name, it started with a dog named Chipmunk, a point-and-shoot camera, and a summer spent walking country roads.
Chipmunk was my first sled dog, and during her first summer with me, I stayed at my uncle’s house in the country. We spent a lot of time together walking those roads, and somewhere along the way, I picked up my uncle’s point-and-shoot camera.
I started photographing whatever caught my attention. I quickly discovered that I loved finding ways to capture things other people might simply walk past—even if getting the shot meant laying down in the middle of a country road.
That summer in 2013 was where my love for photography began.

Chipmunk became more than the dog who happened to be there when I discovered photography. Those walks with her are part of the reason Double C Photography exists today—and why her story became part of its name.
What started with the two of us wandering country roads and photographing anything that caught my eye eventually grew into something much bigger.
Years later, the subjects have changed and the camera has definitely changed, but the reason I pick it up really hasn’t.
Today, I find myself pointing my camera toward many of the same things I enjoy in my own life.
The outdoors comes naturally because I love fishing, camping, and getting outside with my dogs. Automotive photography grew from my own love of driving and enjoying my Subaru. And dog sports bring everything back around to where this story began—sharing experiences with my dogs.
Those personal connections are a big part of how I photograph. I’m not standing on the outside trying to make something look exciting. These are communities, experiences, and moments I genuinely enjoy being around.
From Country Roads to Here
Since those first photographs in 2013, photography has taken me places I never would have expected when I first picked up that little point-and-shoot camera.
My photographs have earned ribbons at the county fair and Western Idaho Fair, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph automotive gatherings with media access, and my photograph of the Eagle Island Dairy Barns was selected for the City of Eagle’s “Wish You Were Here” postcard project.
In 2023, I finally gave everything I had been building a name: Double C Photography.
Still Chasing the Next Photograph
A lot has changed since those walks with Chipmunk, but I still love photography for the same reason I did then: there’s always something worth noticing.
Sometimes it’s action happening in a split second. Sometimes it’s a small detail most people never see. And sometimes the best way to capture it still means looking at things from a slightly different perspective.
That’s the spirit I bring with me every time I pick up my camera.
